At 03:11 EDT, Amazon Web Services (AWS) began experiencing a widespread outage that affected multiple service providers, including CHEMTREC’s primary phone system and our learning management system vendor. By 04:45 EDT, our primary phone system became inoperative. Although our systems are designed to automatically fail over to a secondary provider within three minutes, the AWS outage also disrupted the service responsible for detecting the failure and initiating the rollover. As a result, CHEMTREC’s phone lines were offline for approximately 30 minutes.

We want to assure our partners and customers that our phone systems are now operational. However, due to residual effects from the outage, callers may experience longer-than-usual connection times—up to three minutes—to reach an Emergency Services Specialist. Regards to training, our system will be offline until the AWS issues are resolved
