Provide Access to Your SDS Collection

If all of your company's Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available online, send the URL and instructions for accessing your documents to sds@chemtrec.com. All documents must be available for products you ship and/or manufacture, including consumer/finished products, private label products and raw ingredients. If your website is password-protected, CHEMTREC requires a single user name and password.

Once your website is approved by CHEMTREC, it will be used as the sole source of SDS for products you ship. It is the Registrant's responsibility to notify CHEMTREC if the URL or password to access your documents is ever modified.

Send Your Documents to CHEMTREC

CHEMTREC can upload and maintain your SDS in our document management system for use in the event of an incident involving your company’s products and/or shipments.

We accept most file types including pdf, doc, rtf, xls, tif, and txt files. Each SDS must be sent as an individual file and the file name cannot contain # ~ % .. & { } + , – — or begin with a space.

CHEMTREC welcomes SDS in foreign languages. If you send us your foreign language documents, please be sure to include an electronic index with the English product/trade name and language of the SDS.

Due to the volume of submissions CHEMTREC receives and processes, customers who submit more than 100 documents are also required to provide an associated electronic index

CHEMTREC can index large volumes of SDS on your behalf for an additional fee. Please contact Customer Service if you are interested in our SDS Indexing service.

How to Submit Your SDS

All SDS submissions must include a completed CHEMTREC Document Submission Form. The information you include on this form will help expedite the processing of your submission. Please note: due to the high volume of documents received each day, we are unable to provide individual confirmation of receipt.

  • Email documents to sds@chemtrec.com (5MB limit)

CHEMTREC Test Call

Quite often, the first time a caller interacts with CHEMTREC is during the chaos of an actual emergency. So to help callers know what to do during times of crisis, CHEMTREC offers the ability to set up a test call with our Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

When you aren’t prepared, mistakes happen. CHEMTREC’s test call program familiarizes your team with our process by walking them through a mock emergency situation. By ensuring that they know what to expect from a call to CHEMTREC, the chaos of an actual emergency is minimized. The drill program is comprehensive, with exercises that simulate exactly how CHEMTREC’s Emergency Service Specialists (ESS) respond to actual emergency calls.

Potential customers, registrants, companies, government officials, carriers and emergency responders all benefit from the hands on experience. By walking through the motions of an actual chemical emergency response, they will have a better understanding of how CHEMTREC assists in these situations, as well as what resources and services we offer.

Their document, Lithium Battery Guide for Shippers, outlines; why and how lithium batteries are regulated in transportation, Harmonized Materials Regulations (HMR) international and modal requirements, battery types and implications on shipping requirements, shipping damaged, defective, recalled, as well as disposal/recycling of lithium batteries.

This new regulation WILL impact the entire hazardous materials industry. Want to know more about how this could affect your business? Para se prevenir contra os efeitos de uma crise é fundamental ter um plano de gerenciamento de crises, que deve começar muito antes de surgir um problema. Descubra agora como montar um!

CHEMTREC®, originally called the Chemical Transportation Emergency Center, was established by The Manufacturing Chemists’ Association (now the American Chemistry Council, Inc.) on September 5, 1971. For the past 50 years, CHEMTREC’s world-leading call center has operated on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week, providing emergency response information wherever hazardous materials are manufactured, stored, transported, or used.

The Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) Risk-Based Performance Standard (RBPS) 9 – Response, rightly points out that the emergency response and the security response to an incident must not be confused. The two are separate, but complimentary. Whereas the emergency response, or crisis management plan deals with the broader implications of the incident, the security plan deals with the specific security issues raised by the incident at a tactical level. How do these plans fit together? How should organizations organize themselves to ensure the security operations and the wider response are coordinated? What other plans may be required to respond effectively to the impacts of a security incident?
