Did you know that when shipping a dangerous product abroad, it is necessary to track the shipment using a series of specific documents? In addition, the Safety Data Sheet (or “SDS”) for the transported goods must be made available. A dangerous product is considered to be a load that, due to its nature, can damage other loads or the means of transport, as well as cause accidents or put the lives of those handling them at risk.

CHEMTREC is the trusted service provider for over 80 percent of the world’s largest chemical manufacturers, but what makes us different than other emergency response providers? The answer is simple – we continually strive for excellence and invest in our people and our technology, to better serve our customers and the industry:

CHEMTREC’s European office is based in Oxfordshire, England. This year has seen the rapid expansion of our European team, with new staff members bringing decades of chemical risk and crisis management experience. While these new staff members continue to add value to our core emergency response services, they also maintain an eye towards the international landscape and how their capabilities can be applied globally.

A national outreach program that provides critical emergency training to communities across the country is getting a boost thanks to bipartisan legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama back in 2015. The law, called the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act or “FAST Act,” provided long-term funding to the Department of Transportation as well as funding for the Community Safety Grant Program.

Between all of the different oversight bodies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), which is part of the Department of Transportation (DOT), there are multiple overlapping regulations regarding hazardous materials transportation.
